we were the team of the year for croydon champions 2013

The TalkEasyTrust was awarded the ‘Team of the year’ award at the annual Croydon Champion awards, hosted by the Croydon Guardian.

It was fine reward for the hard work, effort and determination put in by the members of the team; from founder Aidan McNulty, to everyone who has contributed in some form to TalkEasy. The Trust, which seeks to support people who have been victims of bullying, or have mental health issues, saw off competition from Croydon Tech City to win the award.

Speaking after the ceremony, Mr McNulty looked to 2014 to further progress the work of the Trust. “I am delighted that the Trust has won the team of the year award. It has been a long year but one that we can take great pride from. Here is to 2014.”

Somewhat appropriately, it was on the eve of the Trust’s first anniversary that the award was won and there to provide his support was local MP for Wallington and Carshalton, Tom Brake. Mr Brake is not the only MP to have put his weight behind the work of the Trust as Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell, who was also in attendance, met with the Trust during the summer.

Aimed at providing a mentor service for young people in schools, the Trust received a welcome boost after it secured a £2000 grant from the organisation Unltd, which supports social entrepreneurship. It plans to expand further throughout the local area and potentially become a national charity in the next few years, particularly with the support of new mental health charity, Mindfull.
