Here at the TalkEasy Trust we aim to campaign strongly around awareness of mental health issues in young people as well as aiming to reduce the negative stigma attached to mental health issues. We have campaigned in various schools and we are always looking to spread the message further.
We are extremely keen to spread our message into as many schools as possible. We do this through presenting assemblies to any year group on various different subjects. These include:
-What is mental health? -High achievers who had mental health issues and were successful in their chosen field. -Common mental health issues facing young people today. -How to look after yourself. -Why people should get involved with the TalkEasy and why people should act to make a change. -Other charities and where else to get help.
The assembly fits well in supporting the aims of the Trust, which are based around making young people feel more comfortable talking about their mental health as well as being able to recognise if they should seek help or support. It will also supplement the PSHE lessons that the students receive within the school. The assembly is incredibly powerful and we have enjoyed great success in the schools we have already visited such as Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College in Croydon and Queen Anne's School in Caversham, Reading.
The assembly would be delivered by Dominic, the Director of the Trust, but also his close associates who are striving to make a change. We are flexible with regards to the age range that receives the assembly as the delivery has worked with ages from 11 to 18 (and any one in between!)
There is no specific cost of the assembly but we would greatly appreciate if a donation could be made to the Trust to aid us in spreading the message.
I hope that any students out there reading this will badger their teachers to let us come in!
If you have any questions about the delivery of this assembly please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
